The largest ever study of mass shooters has found four main characteristics that nearly all mass shooters since 1966 embody. The study, funded by the Department of Justice and compiled by the Violence Project in a searchable database, looked at mass shootings (defined as events in which four or more people were killed in a public place) since that time.
