Last year's news that Lieutenant Heather Braun of the police department at Indiana University‐Purdue University Indianapolis had been named the country's Clery Compliance Officer of the Year in only the second year of the award came as a shock to the recipient. “I didn't even know I was nominated,” Braun recalled. “I thought, ‘I'm just sitting here doing my job.’”
