Prior to working as chief of police at Bowie State University, Ernest Waiters retired as a captain of a district police station, with 23 years of experience in law enforcement in Prince George's County. While serving as a police officer, Waiters pursued his master's degree in public administration. “I started to ask questions about campus policing and I became interested in learning about the difference between campus and traditional policing,” Waiters said.
