The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit declined in March to revisit its finding that President Donald Trump's practice of blocking his critics on Twitter violates the First Amendment. Barring an intervention by the Supreme Court, this developing application of the First Amendment to social media may leave public universities and colleges — the vast majority of which block particular words or users on their official Facebook and Twitter accounts — exposed to liability.
