Before the global pandemic arose, telework was still relatively novel, and not at the forefront of how institutions managed their workforces. Then, through jarring, health‐crisis‐driven forced closures, the vast majority of employees for many colleges and universities began conducting their work from home, on various types of network connections and through video‐application meetings. Although the esprit de corps has resulted in remarkable success stories demonstrating effective telework, as institutions phase into the next academic year, ongoing telework arrangements and employment laws are likely to become more prominent administration challenges and legal risk areas.
