At the turn of the millennium, the BRIC countries — Brazil, Russia, India, and China — started to gain increasing recognition as emerging major players in the global economy. As business boomed, these countries captured both international travelers' and students' interests. Colleges and universities began recognizing the BRICs as key destinations for their students to gain business insights and cultural acuity.
