In this article, a possible use of a computer algebra system as a support to the theoretic lessons in an electromagnetics course is shown. It is believed that such a system can be helpful, because it avoids encumbering the lessons with long calculations that would add nothing to the understanding of the problem, thus allowing the student to concentrate on more important topics.
