Basic clinical skills are taught throughout the undergraduate anatomy course at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. They are tested in weekly, termly, and end‐of‐course examinations, and this material is reinforced by anatomy lectures during the clinical course. Anatomists and clinicians are involved in both teaching and examining. This fires the students' motivation for learning and enhances their knowledge of anatomy. © 1993 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
