In process scale chromatography, the efficacy of the separation is dependent on column packing characteristics such as selectivity, efficiency, dynamic capacity and flow resistance, as well as on the column design and the optimization of the running conditions. In general, it is more profitable to increase the selectivity of the process rather than the efficiency.
