A maximization of expected utility theory of decision making originally developed for repetitive, non‐social, choice situations is applied to behavior in the coalition game. A program of experiments testing the application of the theory is reported. The results of the experiments indicate strong support for the model. An extension of the theory to two‐person games is also presented and the results of a preliminary test are reported.
