The author discusses the computer and information sciences, which he considers a new discipline. He considers how this new science has been affecting other sciences, arts, and professions. The approach is a philosophic attitude which the author calls cybernetic pragmatism, within which a model is given of the growth and interrelationship of information systems and the organizations which use them. The discussion concludes with a section on interdisciplinary politics and a reevaluation of liberal arts education.
