Information measurement has shown that language has a redundancy of about 50 per cent. It is suggested that behavior in general also has about 50 per cent redundancy–that it seeks an equilibrium between the unexpected and the predicted, between organization and disorganization. This equilibrium theory of redundancy may be useful for studying cultural and personal value systems.
