The positive ion fast atom bombardment mass spectrum of the aminoglycan N ‐[2‐(acetamido)‐2‐deoxy‐β‐ D ‐glucopyranosyl]‐ L ‐asparagine and the collisional activation spectrum of the protonated molecule are presented and its fragmentation scheme is proposed. To gain a further understanding of the mechanisms involved spectra of both methyl‐2‐(acetamido)‐2‐deoxy‐α‐ D ‐glucopyranoside and its trideuteroacetamido analogue have been used.
