Intense peaks in the thermospray mass spectra obtained from Arnica plant extracts can be correlated with the structures of flavonoid glycosides. We have developed a method to determine the presence and distribution of the various flavonoid glycosides in Arnica species based on the characteristic ions that are responsible for these peaks. Also, we have shown that this method can be used to recognize when Arnica drugs have been adulterated by blending with extracts of Heterotheca inuloides .
