Mass spectra were obtained for a series of purine and pyrimidine nucleosides in liquid chromatographic mass spectrometric experiments using a direct liquid introduction probe as interface. Separation of a mixture of adenosine, thymidine, uridine and inosine, and a mixture of hypoxanthine, xanthine, adenine, adenosine, uridine, uracil and thymidine was accomplished using gradient elution with methanol and ammonium formate as a direct liquid introduction liquid chromatographic mass spectrometric compatible solvent system.
