The fragmentation of the TMS derivatives of Δ 1 ‐ and Δ 6 ‐tetrahydrocannabinol under electron impact has been studied with the aid of deuterium labelling and high resolution mass measurements. Many of the fragmentations were common to the spectra of the underivatized compounds. The results from the experiments with deuterium labelling substantiated many of the mechanisms proposed earlier, but showed that at least one of the accepted mechanisms is incorrect.
