The fragmentation mechanisms leading to the major ions in the mass spectra of the trimethylsilyl derivatives of zingerone, the gingerols, gingediols, gingerdiones and hexahydrocurcumins from ginger ( Zingiber officinale Roscoe) were studied with the aid of deuterim labelling and high resolution mass measurements.
