A new gas chromatographic mass spectrometric chemical ionization assay for haloperidol with selected ion monitoring is presented which provides for better combined selectivity and sensitivity than previous asays. Levels of haloperidol in 2 ml of human plasma were reproducibly measured down to subnanogram levels. Both methane and methane‐ammonia chemical ionization spectra are presented for haloperidol and the internal standard trifluperidol.
