Capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C 4 D) has emerged as a powerful technique for the detection of compounds lacking any distinct chromophores or fluorophores. This review provides an update of the most recent application in CE‐C 4 D for pharmaceutical, biomedical and food covering the period from January 2012 to January 2014. The present review is an update of two previous review papers covering the years 2000–2010 ( Biomedical Chromatography 2010; 24: 1038–1044 and Biomedical Chromatography 2012; 26: 990–1000). Representative examples illustrate the applicability of CE‐C 4 D in the fields of pharmaceutical, biomedical and food. Finally, general conclusions and perspectives are provided.
