4‐(N,N‐Dimethylaminosulphonyl)‐7‐fluoro‐2,1,3‐benzoxadiazole (DBD‐F), presented as a fluorogenic labelling reagent for amines and amino acids, is preferred for peroyoxalate chemiluminescence (PO‐CL) detection in high performance liquid chromatography. Amino acids and epinephrine derivatized with DBD‐F were separated on a reversed phase column and detected at the femtomole level by the PO‐CL detection system.
