β‐Hydroxypropionic acid‐ and hydroxyacetic acid‐uroporphyrin I have been isolated from the urine of a patient with congenital erythropoietic porphyria by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography. The compounds were characterized by their chemical behaviour and confirmed by liquid secondary ion mass spectrometry.
