Abstract This review looks at the changes over the last 10 years in priorities guiding funding decisions in science education. A general survey of trends in funding both graduate and undergraduate education are covered, followed by a description of specific National Science Foundation initiatives. Understanding these changes should help proposal writers put their current submissions into context and better reply to the call for proposals from various agencies.
