Expanded allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Cx601) for complex perianal fistulas in Crohn’s disease: a phase 3 randomised, double-blind controlled trial. Lancet 2016; 388: 1281–1290. In this multicentre study, 212 patients with chronic refractory fistulas were randomized. The active treatment was associated with a better chance of remission at 6 months: 50 versus 34 per cent with placebo, P=0⋅024.
