Steam‐sterilizable membrane probes that are virtually maintenance‐free and capable of operation for over 1 year are described. The probes can withstand repeated steam sterilizations. They have a silver cathode, a lead anode, an acetate buffer, and a Teflon membrane. The probes have a linear response from below 0.00002 to over 0.2 atm. of oxygen.
