Lignin is the second most abundant biopolymer on Earth. Recently, new isolation technologies have led to the separated and purified form becoming more available on an industrial scale. Ebers, Laborie and team review current work on utilizing lignin in additive manufacturing, including extrusion‐based and stereolithography printing technologies. The Review presents the current state‐of‐the‐art of this promising field, highlighting its challenges and opportunities. By discussing the unique value and overdue industrial role of lignin in sustainable engineered materials and products, the Review demonstrates how lignin could play a key role in transitioning the materials industry towards sustainability.
