Rabia Nazir et al. , at COMSATS University Islamabad and the University of Oxford, report the preparation of aortic valve extracellular matrix mimicking (ECM) hybrid scaffolds from collagen type I and hyaluronic acid (HA). The HA network infuses through the freeze‐dried collagen network via an in‐situ carbodiimide‐based sequential crosslinking technique, producing the scaffolds. Scanning electron microscopy and images of Alcian blue‐Periodic acid Schiff stained samples suggest an ECM mimicking microstructure with interlaced bands of collagen and HA. The biophysical properties and bending moduli match those of human aortic valves. (DOI: 10.1002/bip.23278 )
