Infrared spectroscopy and equilibrium binding studies have been used to determine the combining ratio of adenosine and poly(U) in 1 M NaClO 4 solution. In contrast to a recent report, we find exclusively 1:2 stoichiometry in this solvent. Ultraviolet and infrared spectroscopy have been employed to show that the stoichiometry of poly(A) interaction with poly(U) is unaffected by 1 M NaClO 4 .
