The Garcia de la Torre‐Bloomfield hydrodynamic interaction tensor was used to calculate the shielding coefficient matrices for each spherical friction bead in the rigid arrays of a rod and helix. Negative values for the average shielding coefficient result for small beads adjacent to large beads, suggesting premature truncation in the series expansions employed in the hydrodynamic interaction tensor. Numerical analysis also suggests that the magnitude of geometric asymmetry is not a good measure of the extent of friction asymmetry of the molecule due to extensive hydrodynamic shielding by other subunit beads.
