The temperature dependence of the condensation phenomenon observed for DNA at low pH is studied in 1 M NaCl. The similarity of the effects of an increase in temperature and of a decrease in pH gives some insight into the physical nature of the interactions hindering the unwinding of the DNA molecule in the condensed state.
