The one‐dimensional Ising model, with nearest‐neighbor correlations only, used earlier in equilibrium studies of melting of DNA is extended to study the relaxation kinetics of copolymeric synthetic DNA near the melting temperature. An exponential kinetics, in agreement with the observations, has been found.
