Poly‐α‐(1 → 6)‐anhydro‐ D ‐glucopyranose has been synthesized by the phosphorus pentafluoride‐catalyzed polymerization of l,6‐anhydro‐2,3,4‐tri‐ O ‐benzyl‐β‐ D ‐glucopyranose and subsequent debenzylation. Physical characterization establishes its high polymeric character and stereoregularity.
