Metabolomics is a potential tool to unveil the complexity of intracellular metabolites and is an essential strategy for industrial biotechnology. The authors investigate the dynamic metabolite profile during citric acid fermentation using an improved liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry‐based metabolomics pipeline for Aspergillus niger , which sheds light on understanding the metabolic mechanism at a system level.
