A new method is proposed to culture bacteria of industrial relevance, which is based on electrospun polymer nanofibers and which promises to enhance the productivity of processes generating secondary metabolites, including antibiotics. Nanofibers are deposited onto agar plates or immersed in liquid fermentation media, addressing life cycle of Streptomyces lividans and allowing the biosynthetic potential of filamentous strains to be exploited in an effective way. This is reported by Maria Moffa, Daniela Pasanisi, Elisa Scarpa, Anna Rita Marra, Pietro Alifano and Dario Pisignano, article number 1700313 .
