The chemical weapons exert their terrifying effects byinterrupting biological processes. Fortunately, they can alsobe degraded by enzymes through fortuitous side reactions. Theactivity of these enzymes can be the ground of our defensivearsenal. Nowadays, the spectrum of such enzymatic tools aresignificantly widened and enriched due to the fast appearanceof new biochemical methods utilizing natural catalysts, enzymes, for the transformation of non-natural man-made organiccompounds. Enzymes provide high catalytic efficiency withminimal unit consumption. As natural proteins, enzymescontribute to the “green” solution of the decontaminationproblems.
