KCe(PO 3 ) 4 doped with Dy 3+ ,Tb 3+ ,Yb 3+ and Nd 3+ phosphors were synthesized by a solid state diffusion method. The prepared samples were characterized by X‐ray diffraction and photoluminescence. KCe(PO 3 ) 4 exhibits emission in ultraviolet (UV) region which indicates weak Ce 3+ –Ce 3+ interaction. The Ce 3+ –Ce 3+ energy transfer is not efficient. In light of this, energy transfer from Ce 3+ to other lanthanides like Dy 3+ , Tb 3+ ,Yb 3+ and Nd 3+ is rather surprising.
