The article offers a review of Electrochemiluminscence (ECL) and its bio‐related applications with a detailed focus on Ru(bpy)3 2+ ECL, its mechanisms and its application in eff ective bioassays. Three types of ECL are covered in this review; DNA, immunoassay and functional nucleic acid sensors.
