A statewide survey of behavior management services provided to mentally retarded residents of community group homes was conducted. Results revealed that services were generally provided by on‐staff behavior therapists with bachelor's degrees. Aggression, inappropriate verbal behavior, noncompliance, property destruction, and tantrumming appeared on treatment caseloads most often. Restrictive procedures used most frequently were: token economy, extinction, simple restitution, response cost, and graduated guidance. Questions are raised concerning governing regulations and monitoring of community behavior management services as well as the role of group homes in Pennsylvania.
