In this paper we consider a generalization of the measures of imbalance given by AHRENS and PINCUS (1981) considering the cases: m ‐fold hierarchical model and m ‐way classification model in order to quantify the degree of imbalance in an unbalanced design. These measures of imbalance satisfy the same properties as those for the one‐way classification model.
