A further enlargement of the class of generalized Mallow's ranking models considered by Fligner and Verducci is proposed. Included in this enlarged class are rank probability distributions other than the uniform that lead to symmetric distributions for many of the common measures used to assess distances between rankings. A particular application to the standard Kendall distance is illustrated in more detail.
