A method for point and interval stability estimation of crop varieties or hybrids is suggested. The method makes it possible to estimate the ability of a genotype to combine high potential yield with minimal yield reduction under unfavourable conditions. The stability measure is a weighted sum of standardized deviations of a trait value from the mean in each trial (location or year) of an ecological experiment. The application of the method is illustrated by a numerical example.
