Doguwa and Upton (1988) propose edge corrections for the mean and variance of the average distance X , between a sampling point and the nearest object in a spatial point pattern for the case of a regular grid of sampling points. However, their edge corrections are not applicable to circular sampling windows. This paper extends the range of application of X , by providing its revised mean and variance for use with circular regions.
