In comparing two independent binomial proportions by modified X 2 tests: Gart's modified likelihood‐ratio, Overall and Starbuck's “tailored F ”, Pearson's adjusted X 2 [= X 2 multiplied by ( n ‐ 1)/ n ] and its skewness‐corrected version proposed by Berchtold, it was found that the last two have error probabilities that in the mean are close to the significance level.
