The expected values of average degree of dominance in F 2 and later segregating generations of a diallel cross have been mathematically derived, and compared to its value in F 1 generation. The interpretation of intercepts on W r axis, a measure of average degree of dominance, differed in segregating generations from that of F 1 at origin, and between origin and tangent in W r , V r ‐graph.
