We consider the problem of assessing agreement between two instruments and test whether the normally distributed bivariate data have evidence to claim satisfactory agreement. We focus on a comprehensive intersection‐union formulation of the hypotheses of agreement. Confidence intervals associated with this approach provide information regarding the extent of agreement and nature of disagreement. We illustrate the suggested methodology using a dataset from the literature. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
