Using the indices δ + and δ * for assessing phylogenetic diversity may lead to spurious results and interpretations; it can bias recommendations for conservation and lead to inappropriate management decisions. Therefore these indices should be avoided and other indices based on quadratic entropy ( Q δ + and Q ) should be used instead.
