A short description of the situation of Classical Studies in Germany in 1932/33 is followed by a survey on the Classical scholars who emigrated from Germany in the Thirties. 13 Classicists are discussed in more detail (E. Norden, F. Jacoby, P. Maas, P. Friedländer, E. Fraenkel, H. Fränkel, W. Jaeger, E. Kapp, R. Pfeiffer, G. Rohde, K. v. Fritz, R. Walzer, F. Solmsen). They emigrated into Switzerland, Turkey, and especially to England and the U.S.A. The impact they had on the Classical Studies of these countries, and the impact these countries had on their life and scholarship is being considered.
