The dissolution characteristics of benzthiazide tablets were studied under different conditions, and were found to be very poor. It is suggested that these dissolution characteristics are predictive of poor product performance in vivo observed by other authors. The combined dissolution and bioavailability data raise questions as to the clinical value of benzthiazide products.
