Finding the technology to produce biofuels in both economically efficient and environmentally friendly ways is still a challenge. In many respects, the tried and tested Fischer‐Tropsch (FT) process seems like a natural choice for this purpose. But, argues Derek Atkinson from Oxford Catalysts, all is not what it seems.
