As organizations throughout the country face increasing pressure from stakeholders (and regulators, in some states) to improve gender representation on their boards, a handful of nonprofits have stepped in to help. One of those, Milwaukee Women inc (MWi), recently reported significant progress towards bolstering the number of women serving on the boards of Wisconsin corporations, and has published some insights that can be used to help nonprofits looking to do the same. The organization's 17th annual research report, Moving the Needle, showed the percentage of women on the boards of Wisconsin's top 50 public companies reached an all‐time high in 2020—21.1%—as the organization works toward its goal of 25% women directors by 2025.
