Similar to the philanthropic sector as a whole, grantmaking organizations too are struggling to make headway in terms of diversity. According to the Council on Foundation's (COF) 2020 Grantmaker Salary and Benefits Report , the percentage of U.S. foundations’ full‐time staff that are people of color was just about 27% in 2020. For comparison, people of color are roughly 40% of the U.S. population in 2020.
